The data from the Corpus of ISL can be used in two ways: for personal use (enjoyment, learning, interest) or for research. See the conditions of use below depending on which suits your needs.
For personal use:
In order to watch the data from the Corpus, you must first watch the explanation of the terms of use, fill in your details and then you can get full access to the Corpus. You can access the data for personal use or for the purposes of research. Those who might want to use this for personal use include students, teachers of sign language, interpreters, parents or deaf people, professionals working with deaf people and anyone interested in watching the videos.
For personal use, here are the four terms of usage.
- You must not use the videos for financial profit or share them as if they are your own creation; the rights for the videos belong to the Corpus project. However, you may use them freely for educational purposes. You are encouraged to show students the website for watching and practising as long as they are not asked to pay for this use.
- Do not copy, distribute or advertise or change the videos on the webpage in any way and you must not edit or make any changes to the videos themselves.
- Keep the anonymity of the participants in the videos. The Corpus project staff have edited the videos to remove names and any other identifying information. Even if you recognise the participants, please keep this information to yourself and respect their privacy.
- Do not use the videos to disrepect, offend or humiliate any of the participants. Please be respectful towards the participants.
